We take security very seriously as you can imagine. We use a strong third party access control system which we will not name here for security reasons. Your session with internetSOS is further protected by an SSL certificate which in plain language means that all the communication between your computer and our server is encrypted and can not be intercepted and read. This is the same system that banks and online shopping sites use to protect their transactions. The internetSOS system does not store any financial records as we use a third party billing processor so we do not even have a copy of your credit card.

You simply don’t need to. internetSOS never requires you to enter any security information. You never store passwords or files on our system. internetSOS will tell you how to construct a strong password or store any confidential information you may have but any passwords you create and other security information stays on your system. internetSOS stores information on the types of internet protection options a person has chosen but no information that would enable them to directly access your computer or information.

Firstly InternetSOS is not an online book. In fact, our main focus is on providing instructional videos but at the same time we do provide a written version for those that prefer to read or wish to study the subject matter in depth. My original idea was to produce a good easy to follow book but as I looked into the sheer volume of information and choices available I realised that most people would have no chance of implementing the required protection options and would be lost in information overload. Most would probably give up after looking at the first chapter. Our system is interactive. It’s like having a security expert sit beside you and explain the risks, then help you asses your own risk and then provide you with custom options based on your situation.

Let’s be honest here. For most people internet security is boring. We just want to use the computer on the interest and wish all these bad things would just go away or hope that we somehow avoid them. This is the ostrich putting its head in the sand syndrome. The trouble is the internet is becoming a more dangerous place day by day. Some of the protection options may recommend purchasing additional products or services depending on what you already have and any special risk considerations. This is of course optional and you can look for alternatives and in some cases there are free products you can use which we will advise you of.

The biggest problem with providing internetSOS as a downloadable application is the currency of the security information we provide. In order to provide an application version it would be necessary for the user to connect to the internet and download updates. We would also have to deal with multiple versions of the software and the issue of software piracy. We would be doing the internet community a disservice if we created a situation where out of date pirated versions of internetSOS were in circulation as people might make decisions based on out of date information. This could damage the reputation of our product and add to security problems rather than help.

No. internetSOS is setup to create a single strategy. If someone else was to try using the account at the same time then they would continually overwrite the security choices you made and vise versa. It can only be used by one person at a time. We do provide a family licence pack at a very substantial discount. This is for use from one household or location. We have spent hundreds of hours researching, writing and proof reading to produce articles and videos that will enable you to understand the threats and how to protect yourself. Very few online products and services you may subscribe to have anything close to the amount of information we provide and more importantly, we have incorporated it into an expert system that will guide you through all facets of designing and implementing your personal security strategy.
